Job Summary:

Ready to apply mechanical engineering in a real production environment where precision and safety are paramount? At Centrus Energy’s American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio, you’ll support a high-tech nuclear fuel manufacturing facility operating under NRC licensing and DOE oversight. This internship offers hands-on experience with precision manufacturing systems, rotating equipment, and plant reliability initiatives that support advanced uranium enrichment technology.
 

What You Will Do

You’ll work alongside plant engineers and operations teams to support the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of production equipment and mechanical systems. Responsibilities may include assisting with equipment troubleshooting, supporting preventive and predictive maintenance evaluations, reviewing and updating mechanical drawings, supporting CAD modeling updates, performing basic calculations and data analysis, participating in system walkdowns, and contributing to root cause and corrective action efforts. You’ll gain direct exposure to how engineering principles are applied in a regulated nuclear manufacturing environment where safety, compliance, and operational excellence drive every decision.
 

We’d Love to Hear from People With:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or graduate program in mechanical engineering
  • Coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, or machine design
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as CREO, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD
  • Basic understanding of mechanical drawings and tolerancing
  • Interest in manufacturing, reliability engineering, or plant operations
  • U.S. citizenship
     

A Successful Candidate Brings:

  • Hands-on lab, project, or internship experience involving mechanical systems or manufacturing processes
  • Exposure to rotating equipment, vibration analysis, or reliability concepts
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Completion of at least two years of college-level mechanical engineering study
