Summary:

The Materials Rigger is responsible for safely rigging, lifting, moving, and staging materials and equipment using cranes, hoists, forklifts, and other lifting devices. This role supports construction, maintenance, and shutdown activities by ensuring materials are properly handled, secured, and positioned in accordance with lift plans and safety standards. Prepares site for daily work, performs all housekeeping and duties necessary for daily activities. 

Responsibilities:

• Rig, lift, move, and position materials, equipment, and structural components
• Select, inspect, and properly use rigging equipment including slings, shackles, chains, hooks, and spreader bars
• Signal and communication with crane and equipment operators using standard hand and radio signals
• Load, unload, and stage materials at designated job-site locations
• Assist with basic lift planning and job hazard analysis (JHA)
• Maintain inventory and organization of rigging materials and tools
• Inspect rigging equipment before use and remove damaged equipment from service
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and company safety policies
• Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work areas
• Perform additional material handling and support tasks assigned

Education and Experience:

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent and previous years of related experience. 
• Preferred minimum of 6 months documented field experience in chosen craft discipline.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation.
• The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step.
