Job Description

The nationally recognized Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is expanding its clinical staff. We are seeking a Clinical Nurse who will work with a team of physicians, APPs, trainees, nurses and administrative clinical support staff to provide care to patients.This position requires the ability to communicate with patients and other members of the care teams to coordinate care and ensure the highest quality of clinical care delivery.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Attend outpatient clinics to assist with prescription refills, laboratory testing, patient education, and coordination of care.
  • Make decisions regarding patient care, within scope of practice.
  • Serve as a caring, dedicated patient advocate.
  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability with patients, family members, providers and support personnel regarding patient care and or clinic operations.
  • Assist with Epic In Basket management of results, advice requests, prescription refills, and authorizations.
  • Triage clinical patient calls at the request of physicians, nurse practitioners, or medical office coordinator.
  • Assist physicians and nurse practitioners in contacting patients with test results, as directed
  • Pend orders for signature as appropriate and requested.
  • Assist with prior authorization requests.
  • Work closely with clinical operations leaders for continuous quality and process improvement.
  • Adapt to changes in technology, software, policies and practices.
  • Adjust schedule and multi-task to meet patient and clinical needs.
  • Manage time independently to ensure required tasks and responsibilities are addressed timely and within policy or practice.
  • May assist with clinical research studies.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be a registered nurse, licensed in the State of Maryland
  • CPR/BLS certified,
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related discipline.
  • ACLS certified.

Classified Title: Clinical Nurse 
Role/Level/Range: ACRP/03/ME  
Starting Salary Range: $64,600 - $113,300 Annually ($81,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.) 
Employee group: Full Time 
Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5pm
