The Commercial Loan Assistant (CLA) provides essential operational and administrative support to the Commercial Lending Department. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely setup of commercial loans in both the loan origination system (LOS) and the credit union’s core processing platform. Responsibilities include updating core system data—such as loan review dates, risk ratings, financial covenants—and generating and distributing reports related to portfolio and risk management.

Who YOU are: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, plus one year of residential or commercial lending experience
  • Possess versatility and flexibility to successfully serve as a backup to other positions.
  • Knowledge with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Powerpoint.
  • Effective organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements for state specific documents.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating operational procedures.
  • Ability to communicate both verbal and written.
  • Ability to perform necessary computer related input.

What YOU’LL do:

  • Accurately report and maintain loan data within the LOS and core system including new loan set up, financial and portfolio management tracking.
  • Support Commercial Banking Officers by contacting members for financial statements, updated insurance, property tax information and other required documents, ordering appraisals, environmental due diligence, site inspections and obtaining credit reports.
  • Support Commercial Loan Documentation Specialists by preparing 4506-C forms, filing UCC’s, obtaining flood determinations, and assist in onboarding of loans.
  • Coordinate documentation for loan participations including providing loan files and supporting material for loan sales, annual reviews and ongoing monitoring.
  • Maintain and monitor third-party vendors to ensure licenses, documentation and insurance remain current.
  • Coordinate loan file delivery for internal audits, external audits, and NCUA examinations.
  • Participate in department or organizational projects as assigned.
