Job Title: Clinic Housekeeper

Department: Facilities / Environmental Services

Reports To: Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary: The Clinic Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This role supports infection prevention and ensures clinic areas meet health, safety, and regulatory standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize exam rooms, patient rooms, waiting areas, restrooms, offices, and common areas according to clinic protocols
  • Disinfect high-touch surfaces (doorknobs, light switches, exam tables, chairs, counters, etc.)
  • Follow infection control, OSHA, and HIPAA guidelines at all times
  • Properly handle, store, and dispose of waste, including biohazard materials when applicable
  • Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap, hand sanitizer, and restroom supplies
  • Safely mix and use cleaning chemicals according to instructions
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and surfaces
  • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or equipment needs to supervisor
  • Maintain cleaning schedules and documentation as required
  • Provide courteous interactions with patients, visitors, and staff

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitization methods, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Professional demeanor and respect for patient confidentiality

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous housekeeping or janitorial experience, especially in a medical or healthcare facility, preferred but not required
  • Training in infection control or healthcare cleaning practices is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30–50 pounds
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions such as mopping, wiping, and vacuuming

Work Environment

  • Indoor clinical and office settings
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and bodily fluids may occur
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
