MPS Group Inc. is hiring an Environmental Technician to handle solid and recyclable wastes at the GM Fort Wayne Plant. A high school diploma and one year of experience in waste management are required, along with a valid driver's license. The role involves separating recyclables, collecting waste, and operating a forklift, all while following safety guidelines.
Job Description
- Separate line side recyclables per standards set by the Lead Resource Manager.
- Collect trash, recyclables, hazardous waste, scrap metal and other waste streams throughout the plant and transports to disposal container or storage room.
- Segregate, sort and package waste streams for off-site shipment.
- Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to recycling centers and any other disposal site.
- Document and inform Resource Manager of any contamination in plant’s recycling and waste containers.
- Maintain necessary documentation of waste/recycling inventories, inspections and other activities as required.
- Operate fork truck to load/unload trucks, etc.
- Follow all plant-related safety guidelines.
- Responsible for additional duties assigned.
- High School Diploma and one year experience in waste management.
- Previous experience handling/disposing of plastic and recycling.
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
- Qualifications include the ability to read and understand basic equipment operating instructions, safe work protocols and adhere to the personal protection requirements of the assigned job.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Current Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA, desired); will be provided upon hire.
- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER will be provided upon hire.
- Current Fork Truck Operator Training (desired); will be provided upon hire.
