Job Description

Shift: Monday – Friday; 2pm to 10:30pm, Staff will orient the first 6 weeks on days at the discretion of the supervisor. Department Sterile Processing Missouri Orthopedic Institute Compensation
  • Base Pay Range: $20.58 to $32.49 per hour based on experience.  
  • Special Pay: Additional $2.00 per hour until June 27, 2026 
  • Shift Differentials: Additional $2 per hour for night/evening/weekend 
Union Bid Period: 4/2/26 to 4/9/26

  DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION  
  1. Disassemble, clean, assemble and test instrumentation for proper functioning.  
  2. Employees in a lead capacity Assist with teaching of new hires and work as resource person for other staff as well as other units in hospital.  
  3. Perform and participate in the decontamination, inspection, cleaning assembling and packaging of medical/surgical materials including instruments and equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure a sterile and functioning supply of materials.  
  4. Prepare trays and specialty carts for designated areas according to prescribed procedures. Wrap and/or package items for specified areas according to procedures prescribed for those designated areas. Operate instrument tracking systems.  
  5. Use knowledge of different types of sterilization materials and equipment to choose the appropriate material for sterilization processes. Assist in the maintenance of supply and materials inventory to include documenting usage, issuing, receiving and recording as assigned.  
  6. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.  
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS  
  • One (1) year of experience as a surgical sterilization tech; Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification by Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or surgical technologist program graduation may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.  
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification by HSPA within one (1) year of hire as a condition of continued employment in this job classification. igh school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.  
 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS  Completion of some college work. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.  PHYSICAL DEMANDS   The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 25 lbs.
