About the Team

Our Finance team ensure we are accountable and on track to company strategies. Their responsibilities include forecasting, in-season management, and analysis across business units. From sales and margin to operations and expenses, our Finance team provides consistent, accurate information to cross-functional partners to support PetSmart's growth initiatives.


About the Location

Collaborative Work Environment:
At PetSmart, teamwork and connection are core to how we thrive. This role is based at our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation of working a minimum of four days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval). The Automation Developer supports the design, development, testing, and maintenance of automation workflows using a suite of tools (Alteryx, UiPath, ServiceNow, etc.) that improve efficiency and accuracy across the enterprise. This role works with the guidance of Senior and Lead Automation Developers to deliver reliable, scalable solutions using established automation standards and tools. This position is focused on technical development, quality execution, and growing ownership of increasingly complex automation initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

Automation Development 

  • Develop and configure automation workflows using platforms such as UiPath, Alteryx, and ServiceNow under established team standards
  • Execute defined components of larger automation initiatives or independently deliver smaller, lower-complexity workflows
  • Assist in translating documented business requirements into technical workflow designs
  • Perform workflow testing (positive/negative scenarios) and document results
  • Troubleshoot automation issues and resolve routine defects; escalate complex issues appropriately 

Maintenance & Support

  • Monitor automation performance and support production issue resolution 
  • Maintain process documentation, workflow diagrams, and technical specifications 
  • Support enhancement requests for existing automations 

Collaboration 

  • Partner with business stakeholders to clarify requirements and validate solutions 
  • Participate in solution design discussions
  • Communicate progress and risks clearly to project leads 

Continuous Development 

  • Build proficiency in automation tools, SQL, and enterprise data environments including Snowflake and Databricks 
  • Develop understanding of data governance, security, and IT compliance standards 
  • Demonstrate progression toward independent ownership of increasingly complex workflows 

 Qualifications & Education 

  • 1–3 years of experience in automation, analytics, systems development, or related technical work 
  • Exposure to automation tools such as UiPath, Alteryx, or similar tools preferred 
  • SQL experience preferred
  • Foundational understanding of data structures and process design
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field preferred, but not required
