We are looking for a Real Estate Loan Assistant to perform duties for designated officers. Key requirements include a strong commitment to customer service, a 2-year college level course of study in Business Administration/Finance, and strong communication/organizational skills. Previous loan processing or real estate processing experience is preferred.

Job Description

Position General Responsibilities:

Responsible for various duties, performing as a Loan Assistant for designated officers. This position will also assist in the assorted clerical duties for the Real Estate department (i.e. includes communications, facets of loan document preparation, recordation, and maintenance of credit files). Tickler list management and loan accounting are also critical to the job function.

Education, Experience and Certification Requirements

Note: Only minimum responsibilities are listed. Other responsibilities may be required as requested by management. 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
  • 2-year college level course of study in Business Administration and/or financial
  • Institution or related field experience or equivalent training and/or experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and to prioritize multiple tasks.

Preferred: 

  • Previous loan processing experience/real estate processing experience.

Position Specific Responsibilities, Duties and Competencies

Loan Assistant Operational Functions: 

  1. Loan documentation preparation for all lenders.
  2. Responsible to develop expertise in loan documentation as well as to develop general credit skills commensurate with the position of Loan Processor.
  3. Responsible for tickler list, loan file maintenance, loan accounting and other duties as assigned.
  4. Responsible for professionally dealing with title companies and insurance companies.
  5. Responsible for communicating professionally with customers and Realtors.
  6. Responsible for collateral safekeeping as applicable.
  7. Responsible for correspondence mailings, phone, and lobby traffic.
  8. Manage denial / withdrawn credit files.
  9. Provide secretarial help as needed.
  10. Process paid and renewed notes.
  11. Filing for loan department; make loan advances and payments.
  12. Responsible for preparation of notes modifications and extensions; letters of credit and commitment.
  13. CRT and HMDA contact and maintenance of compliance files.
  14. Pull credit reports / build and maintain files.
  15. Prepare and deliver loan application packages to Processing Center.
  16. Quote loan payoffs as needed; monitor lien filings; order appraisals, lien searches and title commitments. Contact insurance companies as deemed necessary.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

Clerical: 

  1. Answer phone; take messages and direct calls to designated officers.
  2. Greet, monitor and assist customers.
  3. Become a notary public.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Sales/Public Relations: 

  1. Promote the improvement of Stockman Bank through quality customer service, promotion of products, professionalism in conduct and diligent work ethic.
  2. Greet all customers pleasantly and make them feel welcome and comfortable.
  3. Handle transactions quickly and professionally.
  4. Effectively handle customer questions and problems.

Work Schedule/Availability:

  1. Employees are expected to be on time to work his/her scheduled shift. A typical shift will be 8:00are to 5:00pm; Monday through Friday. Schedule may be subject to change depending on circumstances that arise per management.
