Job Summary:

We are seeking highly motivated emerging talent to participate in a 10-week immersive internship program from June 8, 2026, to August 14, 2026. This program offers university and graduate students hands-on experience through project-based work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Throughout the program, Interns will have exposure to mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities.

Voyager is in the process of developing the next generation of Laser Communication terminal which do not rely on mechanical gimbals. This non-mechanical method moves the beam from user to user in milliseconds rather than minutes. Be prepared to learn quickly - this Intern will help create the next generation of laser communication.

Responsibilities: 

  • Test in the lab as well as in the field, specifically the Position, Acquisition and Tracking (PAT) software and hardware
  • Assist with research, analysis, and/or documentation
  • Participate in team meetings, reviews, and training sessions
  • Meet deliverables related to assigned project(s)
  • Contribute ideas for process improvement and operational efficiency

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited university in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Optics; junior standing by fall 2026
  • Lifting and moving equipment up to 30 pounds
  • Experience in aligning optics including fiber optics preferred
  • Python and/or C++ programming skills
  • Understanding MAC and Ethernet IP protocols a plus
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel for in-person orientation and program kickoff as well as for final presentation at program completion

Preferences:

  • Previous internship, coursework, or project experience

Hourly Pay Range: $23.50-$30.00 per hour

*Hourly rate determined by academic year, college major, line of business, geography
