POSITION SUMMARY 

Borden Dairy is seeking a safety-conscious and quality-focused professional to join our team as a Maintenance Technician. In this dynamic role, you will install, maintain, and repair production and manufacturing equipment.  Inspects equipment for proper functioning and performs preventative maintenance duties per manufacturer's specifications.  

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Perform BASIC preventative maintenance inspection and service on all production and manufacturing equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company guidelines. 
  • Perform BASIC troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of equipment to the desired company's performance standards. 
  • Interface, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic computerized systems and equipment 
  • Utilizing a continuous improvement mindset, assisting in identifying opportunities to improve processes. 
  • Comply with all company work and safety rules and regulatory compliance rules and regulations. 
  • Use all personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations. 
  • Possess the necessary personal tools to perform duties. 
  • Supports team and organizational goals through additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required. 
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or one-year related experience and/or training in manufacturing equipment maintenance and repair; or equivalent combination of continued education and experience. 

Other Functions: 

  • Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations, and accurately record data required. 
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, as required. 
  • Must be able to frequently stand, walk, kneel, reach, climb, pull, and bend with full range of body motion.  
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. 
  • Must be able to work independently and/or on a team in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong analytical skills and a systematic approach to troubleshooting and problem solving is required. 

Preferred but not required: 

  • Experience with basic electrical systems (e.g., starters, fuses, contacts, relays). 
  • Experience with conveyors (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls). 
  • Experience with electrical systems (installation, frequency drive, troubleshooting) 
  • Experience with electronics (e.g., level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs, etc.). 
  • Experience with gearing and gear boxes (rebuilds, ordering parts, machining parts). 
  • Experience with hydraulic systems (high pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, troubleshooting). 
  • Experience with kinematics (e.g., line speed/sprocket size ratios, etc.). 
  • Review rating instructions. 
  • Experience with packaging/high speed production (e.g., bottling, consumer products, etc.). 
  • Experience with pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, reading, troubleshooting). 
  • Experience with pneumatics/air compression (e.g., valves, cylinders, etc.). 
  • Experience with preventative maintenance (computerized preventative charts/data). 
  • Experience with pumps (e.g., troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, understanding specs). 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • PLC, HVAC, Ammonia, Refrigeration, or other specialty certifications preferred but not required. 

 Working Conditions: 

  • Must be able to work in hot and cold climates, both indoors and outdoors. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

  • Must be able to frequently stand, walk, kneel, reach, climb, pull, and bend.  
  • Must be able to routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; and occasionally 75 pounds. 
  • Must be able to work for extended periods in a cold, damp environment.
