This paid internship is 40 hours a week from June 1st through August 28th.

Research Intern
INTERNSHIP PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Internship Program is designed to provide a structured, hands-on experience that integrates meaningful work with intentional learning and development. Interns are embedded within a team to contribute to real business priorities while gaining exposure to organizational practices, tools, and cross functional collaboration. 
Throughout the program, interns will engage in project-based work aligned with team goals, participate in curated professional development sessions, and receive ongoing support through regular check-ins and feedback. The program is structured to ensure clarity in expectations, consistency in experience, and accountability in both performance and development. 

The program also includes phases and key touchpoints such as onboarding, orientation, midpoint feedback, and final presentations or deliverables. These components are designed to support intern engagement, reinforce learning, and provide opportunities for reflection and growth. 

SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting to the Manager of Research, the Research Intern serves as a key member of the Research team, supporting the team’s efforts while learning how the team works while learning how the organization functions. The intern will contribute to various quantitative data-driven research projects, including the Financial Health Pulse research initiative. The research will have a focus on household financial health, primarily using survey data to produce insights into consumer debt, savings, financial services use, and wealth-building. The intern will independently perform data analysis using Stata, generate ideas for how to approach research questions, and contribute to report writing.

The intern should be graduate-level (Master’s or PhD in progress) or high-undergraduate-level (entering senior year or recent grad), the demands of this position can be scaled to the experience level of the applicant. 

The intern should be available to work 40 hours a week beginning June 1st through August 28th.

EDUCATION
Currently enrolled graduate student, recent graduate, or high level undergraduate student preferably seeking a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, or Ph.D. preferably with a social sciences research focus (e.g., economics, sociology, psychology, political science, social work, public policy, or related fields).

13 WEEK PAID INTERNSHIP
$25.00 (Hourly)

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong coding/statistical programming skills overall, including at least some experience with Stata
  • Experience contributing to research projects as part of a team
  • Understanding of analytic techniques used in quantitative social science research
  • Demonstrated experience working with a variety of data types, especially survey data, is a plus
  • Superior writing skills
  • Financial services industry or household finance research knowledge preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to work effectively across teams and stakeholders
  • A growth mindset, with the ability to learn quickly, adapt to new environments, and accept feedback
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Apps
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the internship could include the following:  
  • Support various research projects in research question formation, data analysis, and writing
  • Conduct research including various quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Focusing on research in household financial health, primarily using survey data to produce insights into consumer debt, savings, financial services use, and wealth-building
  • Analyzing data through Stata
  • Generate ideas and approaches for research questions
  • Collaborate with other teams as needed
  • Assist with other projects as necessary.
