Job Description

Overview

Full time position for an advanced medical assistant, providing outpatient care for our patients and assisting our physicians in all clinical areas of the practice. Responsible for front and back office procedures. Also assists Physicians and Nurses with medical examination of patients. This position is located at our Princess Anne Office in Virginia Beach.

Responsibilities

  • QA review of patient charts obtaining all pertinent documentation for return and postpartum patients.
  • Updating patient prenatal lab forms for all follow up patients.
  • Take vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure.  May draw blood and give injections under the immediate supervision of a Physician or RN. 

  • Chaperone when appropriate and assists during certain minor surgeries and diagnostic procedures, such as Pap Smears. 

  • Stocks examination rooms and triage area with medical supplies.  Inventories and reorders supplies.

  • Document all information in EMR.

  • Check EMR tasks daily

  • Maintains clean, well-equipped examination rooms; cleans and sterilizes instruments. 

  • Train and orient new medical assistants.

Qualifications

  • Must have working knowledge of computers.
  • Customer service-oriented individual is required. 
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have the ability to read and comprehend all information required for this position.
  • Women’s health experience preferred.
  • Experience in a “fast paced” ambulatory setting preferred.

Successful completion of a Medical assistant program (or equivalent military training) and certification (CMA or RMA) is required.
