Your Role at Delta Faucet

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support engineering, product development, and continuous improvement initiatives within our manufacturing environment. This internship provides hands-on experience working with prototype builds, process improvements, capability studies, and ergonomic evaluations. You’ll gain exposure to real engineering projects while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams on the shop floor.

This position will be full time and located at our facility in Lapeer, Michigan. The anticipated duration is May - August 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to support ongoing product development and manufacturing initiatives.
  • Participate in hands-on support for engineering trials, prototype builds, and equipment evaluations.
  • Assist with updates to engineering documentation such as control plans and FMEAs.
  • Conduct capability studies, including part measurement, data entry, and statistical analysis to evaluate variation and process performance.
  • Support equipment upgrade projects and new product development (NPD) prototype builds.
  • Assist with trial activities related to manufacturing lines, robotics, packaging, and ergonomic improvement studies.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts by gathering data, documenting findings, and preparing recommendations.
  • Prepare clear and effective presentations or summaries for engineering leaders as needed.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, General Engineering, or a related field.
  • College level Sophomore or higher at the time of internship.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or other CAD tools preferred.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Basic understanding of ergonomics or related coursework/training is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing or lab environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

This position will pay $19 - $22/hour, based on the candidate's skills, experience and education level.
