Job Description

The Programs and Events Department organizes and manages all public and private webinars, roundtables, panels, and conferences. This team works closely with all other departments to ensure that programming aligns with MEI’s mission, remains timely and relevant, and fosters meaningful discussions on Middle East-related issues.

Internship Description

As an intern in the Programs and Events Department, you will assist in planning and executing MEI’s events. Your responsibilities will include logistical and communications support, as well as occasional research and writing tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with event-related research, outreach, and planning
  • Support interdepartmental communication regarding event logistics
  • Attend webinars, roundtables, and panels, and take notes
  • Analyze event data to help identify new public engagement opportunities
  • Assist with administrative and operational tasks as needed

Educational Objectives:

  • Gain practical experience in event management and communications
  • Develop skills in research, writing, data entry, analysis, budgeting, and public outreach
  • Learn about event planning within a think tank/non-profit environment

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in or a recent graduate of a bachelor’s program in International Relations, Political Science, Middle East Studies, Communications, Management, or a related field
  • Strong demonstrated interest in the Middle East and event planning
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing, and multitasking skills
  • Experience in event management, marketing, and outreach/communications
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office (Salesforce or other CRM experience is a plus)
  • Enthusiasm for learning and developing new skills
