Summer Internship, The Courier Journal, Louisville, KY 

The Courier Journal, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK is offering a photo and video reporting internship to a college student interested in pursuing a career in journalism.

Who can apply: 

  • College students who are at-minimum finishing their sophomore year   

Program details: 

  • Duration: 10 weeks (Dates TBD) 
  • Hourly Rate: $18.00 

What you’ll do: 

Gain hands-on experience in: 

  • Working alongside the newspaper’s visuals team assisting with news and sports coverage. 
  • Creating compelling photo galleries from stand-alone events and news and sports team assignments
  • Creating video for social and to be featured with news and sports team assignments

Responsibilities: 

  • Capture photos and videos to accompany news and sports stories
  • Gather information for accurate captions 
  • Produce and edit multimedia content 
  • Collaborate in brainstorming sessions  

Requirements: 

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a journalism program (rising junior or beyond preferred) 
  • Strong photography and video skills 
  • Familiarity with AP style and ability to craft accurate captions that adhere to our standards for cutline writing
  • Candidates should have a facility for AI and automation and experience in using it to enhance their journalism 
  • Critical thinking, adaptability, and attention to detail 
  • This role requires a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.   
  • Availability for some evening and weekend work
