Job Description

Job Title: Surgical Assistant Intern - Dental Assisting Program Intern   Job Location: Oral Surgery Hawaii,    Job Type: Internship   Summary:   Oral Surgery Hawaii, a part for the Beacon Oral Specialists family, is offering a dental assisting internship opportunity!   Responsibilities:
  • Proper instrument cleaning in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols.
  • Autoclave operation and function.
  • Surgical tray set-up.
  • Identification of instruments used in the clinic.
  • Room set up/break down for IV anesthesia and surgery.
  • Seat patient and perform pre-op set-up.
  • Review charts.
  • Properly positioning restraints.
  • Restock supplies, forms, handouts, and rooms.
  • Take vital signs.
  • Familiar with all forms and handouts (procedure-based, consent forms, etc.)
  • Aware of and in compliance with OSHA requirements (e.g. personal protection)
  • Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, filing, and charting.
  • Make follow up phone calls to patients.
  • Excellent patient care & communication.
  • Greet patients and make them feel comfortable.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Currently attending a local Dental Assisting program.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to provide excellent patient care, even under stressful circumstances.
  • Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude.
Schedule:
  • TBD based on practice and dental assisting program requirements.
Special Requirements:
  • Working in the office is an essential part of the job function.
  • Must be able to stand up to 80% of the time at minimum.
  • Physical requirements include driving, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time.
