Duties and Responsibilities:

  • NHA provides our students with specially designed instruction developed to meet the unique needs of each child resulting from his/her disability such as: a resource room, inclusion, and/or pullout services.

  • Participate in professional development that is specific to special education curriculum, along with data tracking tools.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid teacher license or meet alternative requirements. NHA will support you through your alternative certification journey.

In the State of Ohio, National Heritage Academies (NHA), in partnership with Teachers of Tomorrow (TOT), offers a “Paraprofessional to Special Education Teacher” pathway, henceforth referred to as “The Pathway”. The Pathway is designed to support candidates who do not meet Special Education Teacher qualifications, as prescribed by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE), but are interested in engaging in coursework and passing examinations to earn the proper credential(s).
