This summer internship offers the chance to work closely with experienced traders and analysts, gaining hands‑on exposure to commodity markets, analytical modelling and commercial operations. About the Role

You will join the trading organisation for a 10‑week summer placement, supporting the Front Office team with analysis, data management and operational tasks. Working in a collaborative and fast‑moving environment, you’ll contribute directly to commercial decision‑making while developing a solid understanding of energy markets. You’ll gain practical experience in modelling, market fundamentals and the tools that underpin modern trading.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining analytical models that support trading decisions

• Sourcing, organising and analysing internal and external data sets

• Assisting in building automated tools, reports and dashboards

• Providing day‑to‑day analytical and operational support to the trading desk

• Contributing to market analysis that supports traders in identifying trends, risks and opportunities

About You

You are an analytically minded student who enjoys working with data, solving problems and understanding how markets behave. You thrive in a collaborative environment, communicate clearly and adapt well to fast‑moving commercial settings. You bring curiosity, strong academic ability and a genuine interest in developing hands‑on experience in trading, analytics and energy markets.

You are currently studying towards a degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Science, Computer Science, Business or a related field—typically in your penultimate or final year, with a strong academic record and relevant coursework or projects in data analysis, programming or market‑related subjects

Ideally, you bring:

• Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to work with data, build structured analysis and support modelling activities

• Good Excel skills; experience with Python, VBA or other data or programming tools is desirable

• Ability to organise and interpret data from multiple sources with strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Demonstrated interest in financial or commodity markets, analytics, trading or quantitative work, with a basic understanding of market or risk‑management concepts considered beneficial
