Job Description

Willdan Financial Services (WFS) is seeking an Analyst to join our Temecula, CA office. WFS is a national consulting firm providing financial and economic advisory services to cities and other local government agencies. The Analyst will support senior staff in the development of cost allocation plans, user fee and rate studies, and other financial and economic analyses. This role involves data collection and validation, financial modeling, quantitative analysis, and preparation of written reports and presentations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior staff in the preparation of cost allocation plans, user fee studies, and related financial analyses for local government clients.
  • Gather, validate, and analyze financial and operational data from multiple sources.
  • Develop, update, and maintain Excel-based financial models and analytical spreadsheets.
  • Calculate and interpret results and incorporate findings into written reports.
  • Prepare client-ready reports, tables, exhibits, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting project deadlines.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal team members and, as appropriate, clients.

Job Requirements / Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or other technical field, and 2 years analytical work experience (work related to government agencies or government consulting is a plus), or equivalent of education and experience;
  • A strong work ethic and professional skills, including the ability to work ahead of deadlines, independently manage daily tasks, timelines and deliverables, communicate effectively with management and peers, perform high-quality self-review, and carry tasks through to completion.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and web-based information sources. In particular, developing and understanding models and complex spreadsheets in Excel.
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills such as calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, allocations and percentages, self-checking and evaluating results, defining problems and understanding results and outcomes; collecting and understanding data and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Ability to create professional-looking reports and business correspondence.
  • Superior information management, time management, and communication skills.
