Job Description

PRODUCTION ART INTERN

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Production Art Internship builds on foundational graphic design skills and coursework, providing hands-on experience preparing artwork for production. Interns support the creation of primarily single‑color graphic art proofs and keylines by incorporating customer logos and text into existing templates.
This role requires strong attention to detail and accuracy while working efficiently to meet production timelines and customer deadlines. Ideal candidates have a basic understanding of graphic design principles and an interest in how artwork is prepared for printing, stamping, or engraving on a variety of materials, such as crystal awards, custom drinkware, and promotional products.
Creativity in this position focuses on producing clean, visually appealing layouts within established templates. The ability to visualize and convert color logos into single‑color artwork, along with familiarity with fonts and typography, is more important than advanced illustration or color design skills.
Interns rely on guidance and established processes to lay out artwork and text, follow standard file‑naming and organization practices, and prepare proofs and final art files for in‑house production or external vendors. This position involves a limited range of production‑focused tasks and requires flexibility, a willingness to learn, and comfort working in a fast‑paced environment. This role is on-site 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday, tentatively from April 1st to July 30th, 2026.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare single‑color artwork proofs and production‑ready files by placing customer logos and text into established templates.
  • Convert full‑color logos into clean, accurate single‑color graphics suitable for printing, stamping, or engraving.
  • Ensure artwork meets basic production requirements for various materials (e.g., paper, plastic, fabric, crystal).
  • Assists with general graphics department work, including filing, archiving, creating templates, reviewing new products
  • Prepare final art files for in‑house production equipment or external vendors.
  • Provide accurate final artwork to outside vendors and internal engraving/printing facilities
  • Support the production team by meeting daily deadlines and customer due dates
  • Assist with limited range of production-focused tasks as needed.

KEY MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
  • Artwork proofs and final files are consistently accurate, with minimal errors.
  • Corrections decrease over time as the intern gains familiarity with templates and standard
  • Artwork consistently follows established templates, file‑naming conventions, and organization standards.
  • Instructions and documented processes are followed correctly
  • Demonstrates measurable improvement in speed, confidence, and independence over the internship period
  • Actively applies feedback and shows increased understanding of production constraints.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Pursuing or have earned a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Proven proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop. Corel experience is beneficial.
  • Reliable and consistent on-site work. Ability to work occasional overtime.
