Job Description

Tax Intern - Part Time   Position Summary We are immediately seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Intern to join our corporate tax department on a part time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with real-world projects in the dynamic energy sector, supporting the team in ensuring compliance with a wide variety of federal, state, local, and international tax regulations. The intern will work closely with experienced tax professionals and contribute to the day-to-day operations of the tax function.  Expected start date in February.   Key Responsibilities
  • Tax Compliance:  Assist and prepare tax filings specific to the oil and gas industry, such as motor fuel taxes, sales and use taxes and property taxes.
  • Data Management: Gather, analyze, and review counterparty tax documentation (tax licenses & tax certificates). 
  • Audit Support: Assist with gathering documentation and information in response to tax authority notices and audit requests.
  • Special Projects: Participate in process improvement initiatives and various special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in AccountingFinance, or a related field (at least sophomore standing or 90 credit hours completed preferred).
  • Academic Performance: Strong academic record, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or 3.25 on a 4.0 scale preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
    • Familiarity with tax preparation software and accounting principles is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
    • A strong interest in the oil and gas industry and energy finance.
 
  • Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
