Job Description

Description

This role consists of helping the classroom teacher with a student who has a need for a para in a one-on-one role. This includes and is not limited to; instructional support within and outside of the classroom, behavior management, student safety and health, student supervision outside of class, and data collection. 

Other Duties may include:

  • Collect educational data to be reported to the classroom teacher and Special Education Coordinator
  • Track IEP goals and outcomes for IEP meetings
  • Keep track of the student and their schedule
  • Ensure the student’s hygiene and health are taken care of in a timely manner
  • Work with the teacher and Special Education Coordinator to help the student reach their goals
  • Reteach lessons or focus on practicing skills
  • Support the student in becoming independent 
  • Positively manage the student’s behavior

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma;
  • Experience supervising children
  • Successful collaboration and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, colleagues and administration
