Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Intern to join our Technology Development team for Summer 2026. A candidate should be able to accurately and efficiently troubleshoot problems and advise of the appropriate action. Perform computer maintenance, upgrades and new installations and support desktop, laptop and peripheral devices.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to requests for technical assistance relating to computer systems, software and hardware.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues.
  • Setup, migrate and support desktops, laptops and mobile devices.
  • Review of requirements specifications and preparation of technical specifications.
  • Estimate, unit testing, code reviews and associated technical documentation.
  • Identify key application features.
  • Work with other Development team members to set specifications for new applications.
  • Perform unit and integration testing before launch.
  • Troubleshoot applications.
  • Find bugs and offer timely solutions.
  • Test existing applications, identify deficiencies and offer solutions.
  • Follow standard help desk procedures.
  • Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
  • Track and route problems and requests and document resolutions in a ticketing system.
  • Travel to other offices as needed.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to install, configure and maintain personal computers, networks, hardware & software.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems.
  • Familiarity with handheld devices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Object Oriented Design, Analysis, and Programming course work experience using Python, Java, C++, or C# preferred.
  • Experience designing web pages using HTML preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience with JavaScript framework preferred.
  • Relation Database Design course work experience using MySQL, MS SQL Server a plus.
  • Experience using Version Control Systems GIT, DevOps or the like a plus.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation: $18.00 to $26.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)
