Interns will be responsible for tasks such as composing and inputting journal entries, performing balance sheet reconciliations, and assisting with month-end financial reporting and accounting research projects. They will also contribute to budgeting, financial forecasting, process improvements, and various ad-hoc reporting requests within the Finance & Strategy Department.
This internship is for students currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required, along with strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is expected, and candidates should be able to work independently and in a team environment.

As a Finance & Strategy (Accounting, Financial Reporting, FP&A, Internal Audit, or Risk) Intern at FirstEnergy, you will have an impact on the team’s success. For the Summer 2026 session (May 18th to August 21st, 2026). This position would be on-site at our Headquarters in Akron, Ohio. Based on your academic discipline, as well as the department and projects you are assigned to, selected candidates may:
You will also have the opportunity to participate in the Co-op/Intern Professional Development Program, which is designed to cultivate professional skills and provide professional level work at FirstEnergy. Each participant will receive a personalized development plan, on-the-job training, and challenging assignments to refine skills and round out competencies.
