Description

The Lithography Helper is a general labor position in our printing department. It is also the training position for our Pressman or Lithography Technician positions.

Overview:

The Lithography Helper assists with changeovers on all decorators. The Helper wipes and cleans parts, machinery, plates, etc. according to DSC policy and good manufacturing practices. The Helper restocks all supplies and materials needed for the current shift and the oncoming shift. The Helper ensures press plate folders are available for upcoming jobs. Uses varnish and other consumables on a first in, first out basis. The Helper ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies by strict adherence to DSC policy and good manufacturing practices. The Helper keeps the work area clear of all trash and rejected cans.

Essential Functions (Duties):

Assists with changeovers on all decorators.

Changes plates, washes rollers, removes and replaces press plates, cleans fountains.

Retrieves inks, varnish and other materials as directed by Lithography Technician.

Documents any issues with materials and seeks resolution to those issues.

Communicates issues to production personnel, managers and Director of Lithography.

Ensures chemicals and inks are filled and available during and at the end of the shift.

Ensures disposable supplies (wipes, gloves, etc.) are available during and at the end of the shift.

Uses chemicals in an appropriate manner; rotates stock, covers chemicals when transporting, etc.

Uses appropriate tools and equipment to clean plates, and cylinders.

Removes filled hoppers from work area to pick up areas.

Maintains work area in a neat and orderly fashion including the roof.

Uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with DSC policy.

Follows through and completes all work in a timely manner.

Communicates need for and helps maintain appropriate levels of needed supplies.

Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA and other federal, state, local and customer guidelines.

Works efficiently and safely within company guidelines.

Maintains peer relationships to share issues and ideas.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Skills / Attributes Required:

Ability to distinguish colors.

Ability to see visual defects in press plates.

Ability to manipulate cans to inspect inside and outside surfaces.

Ability to use electronically controlled presses.

Ability to work quickly and adjust priorities.

Ability to communicate with people at all levels of the company.

Ability to lift, clean, move and reset machinery.
