Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer I at our Lynnwood, WA location. This is an on-site position.

The Manufacturing Engineer I performs directed assignments to develop and recommend improvements in the Manufacturing system and in product manufacturability and cost effectiveness. Responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of tools, jigs, and fixtures used in the production process to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety.

Essential Functions:

  • Study, analyze and design methods, procedures, processes, layouts, flow, fixtures and tooling as needed to support production
  • Investigate, recommend, and implement manufacturing cost reduction and product improvement programs
  • Identify root cause and corrective actions for manufacturing problems
  • Participate in the review and evaluation of new product designs or design changes
  • Review and analyze design change requests initiated by manufacturing personnel to determine feasibility, validity, savings, effect on design, and to verify justification for change
  • Evaluate, test and select facilities, equipment and materials required for production in conjunction with Production Supervisors, Purchasing and other groups
  • Perform a variety of cost analyses, e.g., cost estimates for quotations or "make or buy" decisions
  • Develop manufacturing operating instructions
  • Develop and track manufacturing metrics to monitor the health of processes
  • Evaluate non-conformances as part of the Material Review Board
  • Direct work activities of production operators to aid in problem solving
  • Develop procedures and train assemblers and operators in machine operations, processes or assembly applications
  • Coordinate with vendors and customers
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 0-2 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or intern experience
  • Knowledge: Practical application knowledge of the theories of modern production principles and methods as applied to a high technology electronics design and manufacturing operation; Basic knowledge of material characteristics and processing, chemicals; Basic concepts of electrical systems, mechanical systems, fluids, and heat transfer
  • Skills/Abilities: Able to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization 
  • Education/Certification: BA or BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Intern experience in a manufacturing environment or previous work experience in manufacturing.

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
  • Must be available to work overtime, as needed
  • Flexible work schedule to support production
  • Standing: up to 100% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
  • Sitting: up to 75% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task
  • Lifting (in pounds): up to 25 pounds
  • Pushing (in pounds): up to 50 pounds

Salary Range: 88,605 - 101,727 USD Annual.

Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
