We currently seek a college student enrolled in a Data Analytics or Data Science course of study who is interested in a summer internship opportunity. Our Controls department is looking for a Data Analytics Intern at our facility located in Avon, CT. 

Job Summary

The selected candidates will work under the guidance of senior engineers and project leaders, in their designated departments, on various projects for specialty optical fiber manufacturing. 

• Collect, clean, and analyze manufacturing data: Gather test and process data from SQL databases, including both time‑series data and relational data, perform data cleaning, validation, and preparation for analysis.
• Develop data visualizations and dashboards: Create and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards to visualize manufacturing performance, trends, and key metrics derived from time‑based and relational datasets.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams: Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to understand data requirements, translate business needs into analytics solutions, and communicate insights effectively.
• Support documentation and continuous improvement efforts: Document data sources, data models, transformations, and reporting logic, and perform other related data analysis or software‑related duties as required by the business.

At the end of the internship, the candidate will prepare a presentation that summarizes the work they were involved in during the program.

Education Requirements

Candidate must be enrolled full-time in a college or university with a Data Analytics or Data Science course of study.  The ideal candidate will be in their junior or senior year of school. 

Experience

This is an entry-level internship position.  Computer skills and experience using Microsoft Windows applications necessary.
