Job Summary:

Assist the department with a variety of duties. A Graduate Assistant will gain essential work and educational experience needed to obtain full-time employment in their chosen field. These tasks are to be performed in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Description of Job Duties:

  • Assist business students with job searches by researching and sharing job and internship opportunities
  • Make online inquiries to identify potential employment opportunities suitable for business majors
  • Provide one-on-one support to students for career development, including resume critiques and interview preparation when needed
  • Develop relationships with local employers to create, set up, and coordinate new internship opportunities for students
  • Maintain records of job openings and internship placements to monitor student outcomes and department success
  • Promote and help coordinate department career-related events, such as career fairs and employer info sessions
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to tailor services according to student interests and market trends
  • Assist faculty with research projects
  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Write project methodologies
  • Analyze data using qualitative research tools
  • Attend project meetings
  • Prepare progress reports
  • Prepare materials for final report submission to granting agency
  • Other duties as assigned

 Terms of Employment:

  • Employment at will
  • Reports to Chair of the Department of Business
  • Eligible to receive a tuition waiver and stipend each semester
  • Graduate Assistant must maintain a minimum of 2.50 GPA and be enrolled in at least 3 hours of classes for the fall and spring semesters
  • A Graduate Assistant should be working at a level higher than an undergraduate student employee. For example: teaching/instructing undergraduates in or out of the classroom as assigned, critiquing/grading undergraduate work/skills, etc.
