We’re thrilled to offer a summer internship with our Corporate Affairs team at Planet Fitness — a hands-on experience for students who are eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced, high-performing communications environment.

This is a unique opportunity to learn about:• Internal and external communications within a large, national brand• Corporate affairs, including government relations and social impact initiatives• Supporting messaging, media materials, and cross-functional communication efforts• How a growing franchisor aligns brand voice across corporate and franchise audiences

Overview

Planet Fitness, one of the largest and fastest-growing franchisors and operators of fitness centers with more members than any other fitness brand, is seeking a communications intern. The intern will gain valuable skills, experience, and the ability to perform many of the duties required within a fast-paced and high performing corporate affairs department.

The Planet Fitness corporate affairs team manages and oversees all internal and external communications, government affairs, social impact and corporate social responsibility efforts within the Company.

Responsibilities

• Supporting public relations campaigns to raise awareness of the Planet Fitness brand and generate media coverage • Researching and monitoring coverage for the brand, competitors and industry trends • Writing and editing all forms of communications including emails, newsletters, press releases, media pitches, etc.• Developing, editing, and designing internal newsletter content while learning and utilizing Sales Force Marketing Cloud • Collaborating with the national, local, and social marketing teams, interdepartmental colleagues, and national advertising and public relations agencies • Event planning and execution • Partnering with the head of government affairs to research and follow key issues impacting franchising and the Company • Administrative support

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or related field• Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail• Strong verbal communication skills and confidence interacting across teams• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously• Driven problem solver who takes initiative and thrives in a fast-paced environment• Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization• Working knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X• Familiarity with media relations and an understanding of the news and local media landscape• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and OneDrive• Dedicated learner with a strong interest in public relations, corporate affairs, and strategic communications• Cooperative team player with an upbeat, positive, “can-do” attitude
