Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and faith-filled Sumer Intern to join our team and gain meaningful experience within the Diocese of Arlington. This internship offers the opportunity to support the mission of our organization, grow professionally and spiritually, and contribute the projects that serve our broader community.

WorkCamp Intern – 2026

Office of Youth, Campus, & Young Adult Ministries

The WorkCamp intern is primarily responsible for assisting with the preparation, implementation, and closeout of WorkCamp. This includes, but is not limited to: Gathering details of project sites, preparation and verification of material deliveries, communicating with WorkCamp residents, assisting with the setup of the homebase facilities, moving equipment (stage, protective floor mats, scaffolding, etc.), pick‐up of project permits if applicable (project work permits and use permits), ensuring that vendors set up equipment correctly and in a timely manner if applicable (shower trailer, ice machines, roll‐off dumpsters, etc.), guiding youth and volunteers through assigned tasks at WorkCamp. The intern will also assist with the post‐WorkCamp follow‐up with residents, data‐entry for resident follow‐up, help with site cleanup at project sites and day-centers as necessary, identify follow‐up work as necessary, and help track follow‐up work progress to completion.

This position is managed by the Executive Director and supervised by the WorkCamp Coordinator. Formal direction meetings will take place regularly. Communication and direction will occur on regular basis with the intent of guiding the intern through necessary tasks and projects. The intern will generally be required to report to the Office of Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministries in Arlington, VA with frequent travel throughout the Diocese of Arlington, especially in Shenandoah, Page, Warren, and Rockingham Counties.

Qualifications:

  • A rising college sophomore or above who has completed one year of undergraduate study in a ministry related field with the aspiration of working for the Catholic Church, preferably in youth or young adult ministry in the Catholic Diocese of Arlington.
  • Knowledge of the mission of the Office of Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministries as well as the desire and ability to promote the mission and the faith
  • A valid driver's license with minimum of 3 years of driving experience and a good driving record
  • Ability to meet the Diocese of Arlington Child Protection compliancy requirements
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary with significantly extended hours throughout 8 days of WorkCamp (June 19 – June 26, 2026).
  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to create and manage databases using Excel and create social media content
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • At times, this position may be physically demanding.  Therefore, the intern must be able to lift items weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be self‐motivated and have a proven ability to work independently with clear instructions provided and within a team environment
  • Program management and project planning skills is a plus.
  • Prior experience with parish youth ministry programs is a plus.
