Job Description

Job Summary: 

Leads a minimum of three associates involved in decorating main and or branch Exchange locations facilities by displaying merchandise to dramatize both standard special merchandising events the painting of signs. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor. Carries out assignments in accordance with prescribed procedures and instructions as well as with formal schedule of display and decorating activities to be accomplished in accordance with a total merchandising plan. Work is reviewed in terms of satisfactory results obtained compliance with instructions given demonstrated artistic ability and overall effectiveness of displays and signs prepared. 
  • Incumbent acts as team leader for a group of associates and is responsible for overseeing and passing on to other associates instructions received from supervisor. Assists in training new associates and in training all associates in new or revised procedures answers questions on procedures and other pertinent directives as required. Ensures supervisors schedules are adhered to keeps supervisor apprised of the status and progress of work assignments and advises concerning problem areas. Provides input for performance appraisals and recommends leave. 
  • Constructs arrange and maintain effective and artistic visual merchandising presentations and displays in appropriate interior and exterior locations at a main and or branch Exchange to include walls show space windows shelves counter tops etc. Decorates designated areas and sets up focal display near entrance of Exchange to attract customer s attention. Displays may be designed to support a seasonal mood and or a special merchandising event. 
  • Prepares appropriate signs show cards price cards etc. Visit's locations to maintain visual merchandising presentation and displays. - Works with store management personnel in connection with decoration and display requirements including the designing and assembling of key department displays to highlight and identify principle merchandising efforts. As instructed sets up mannequins' center counter column and shadow box displays depending upon the particular display involved. 
  • Is responsible for the safekeeping of props mannequins' tools fixtures in storage area and maintains areas in a clean and orderly manner. - 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

This position may work across multiple locations based on business needs.  The initial assignment will be at Naval Base San Diego.
 



GENERAL EXPERIENCE 

2 years' experience which demonstrated possession of the necessary mechanical and artistic skills required of the position to be filled in visual merchandising display and communication. Such experience may have been gained in operation of sign machines graphics illustration visual display or interior decoration. 

SUBSTITUTION OF EXPERIENCE FOR EXPERIENCE 

  • 1. Education successfully completed in specialized schools of interior decoration design or art may be substituted for experience year for year provided an average of 150 class hours a year is shown in interior decoration or design. 
  • 2. 1 year education successfully completed in an accredited college or university may be substituted for each year of experience provided an average of six semester hours a year included courses in interior decoration or design architecture commercial art or related fine arts courses.
