The primary function of the Mechanical Engineering Co-Op / Intern in the Consumables R&D organization is to provide infusion consumables and pharmacy systems development, troubleshooting and testing support for the engineering staff. This includes design, collection of test data, analysis of data and writing engineering study reports following Good Documentation Practices (GDP). 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual mechanical and electro-mechanical designs and build prototypes to assess feasibility
• Apply analytical and/or statistical methodologies to support design decisions 
• Perform lab activities, testing and experiments as directed by engineering staff
• Perform investigations and troubleshooting activities as required
• Support the 3D printing lab

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in student-led engineering organizations with direct contributions on engineering projects that involve competitions
• Experience with 3D printers
• General understanding of product development and manufacturing processes
• Familiar with selection of engineering materials, mechanical components, geometric dimensioning and tolerance analysis (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up analysis
• Working knowledge of data analysis software tools (i.e. Excel, Python, MiniTab)
• Good communication and written skills

Minimum Qualifications

• Junior/Senior standing pursuing BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Physical Requirements and Work Environment 

• On-site attendance at our San Clemente or San Diego engineering office
• Some duties are performed in a lab environment with lab equipment
• Must have the dexterity to build and service electro-mechanical devices
