Operations and Warehouse Teams

About the Position 

The Operations Specialist I position works out of Stansell Electric’s Nashville warehouse assisting in all aspects of inventory control, shop maintenance, tool allocation, shop deliveries, material orders, and delivery/pick-up of material and tools to and from the jobsite as well as coordinating and completing fleet vehicle inspections.  The Operations Specialist must show customer service skills, and demonstrate mechanical aptitude, computer skills, mathematical skills, and literacy skills commensurate to the satisfactory completion of position’s primary duties and responsibilities.  Advancement opportunities are available by advancing to more senior warehouse positions or through transfer to skilled trades.

How You’ll Make a Difference 

• Perform basic tasks of material handling, and be above average in jobsite and shop housekeeping, tool and equipment maintenance, and general labor.
• Unload and load material onto and off trucks for deliveries and pick-ups.
• Assist in pulling material for orders and or transportation and delivery of material and tools to jobsite.
• Tasks assigned daily in the moving and storage of material, files, and tools.
• Keep lots and warehouses properly locked, cleaned and maintained.
• Performs all tasks in a timely and safe manner.
• Understand and follow jobsite directions and instructions, both written and verbal.
• Comprehend and abide by Stansell Electric customer policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.  Reports all violations to immediate supervisor.
• Understand/Perform other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervision.
• Possess good organization skills, be detail oriented and work well with others.
• Available to work overtime and after hours, if needed.
• Ability to operate forklift.  If you have no previous forklift experience, you must be willing to and able to learn.

Smarts, Skills. And Physical Requirements 

• Ability to lift up to 51 pounds multiple times per day.
• Constantly moving about on the feet.
• Completing a full day’s assignments involving one or more of the following: bending, squatting, stooping, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching over head, and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
• Operating two handed tools/equipment such as cable cutters etc.
• Transitioning from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to access all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use.
• Always wearing all personal protective equipment as required by the specific task, eye and face protection, steel toe leather work boots, hand protection, head protection, respirator, arc flash protection, etc.
• Capable of carrying and relocating up to a 12’ step ladder by oneself.
• Operating company vehicles with manual or automatic transmission.
• Utilizing construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).
• Working a 40-hour work week, with overtime and off-hour shifts as required.
• Personal weight including tool pouch, tools, nail bags, and tool belt must not exceed 300 lbs, weight limit of a class 1A ladder.
• Possession of good hearing, normal or corrected.
• Possession of good vision, normal or corrected.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED

Experience  

1-3 years in an inventory control or similar role. Candidates with less experience will be considered with willingness to learn the role.
