Nurse Extern
Saint Peters

The Nurse Extern will:

** Accepting Applications from February 3, 2026 – February 17, 2026 **

  • Assist other team members in providing care to unassigned patients (ex. answers call lights, hourly rounding, etc.).
  • Collaboration with and under the supervision of the RN, revise the patient's plan of care and implement teaching strategies.
  • Perform/assist patients with activities of daily living as needed such as Bathing, Oral hygiene, Elimination/Incontinence care, mobility, and feeding/nutritional intake. 
  • Perform or assist with care as per skills checklist according to SPUH Policies and Procedures.
  • Perform procedures such as urinary catheter care, post-mortem care, pulse oximetry, incentive spirometry, and oral suctioning as directed by the RN.
  • Assist with admission, discharge, and intra-unit transfer of patients.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the unit and patient room supplies/equipment.
  • Accurately obtain documents, and report various health data: vital signs, intake/output, weight/height, and glucose.
  • Perform documentation in the electronic health record as supervised by the RN.
  • Participate in Patient Satisfaction Initiatives. 
  • Assist in the provision of an environment conducive to patient safety.
  • Comply with the SPUH Occupational Health and Safety Policies/ Procedures.
  • Comply with department-specific safety initiatives such as hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and fall precaution.

Requirements:

  • Junior/Senior of an accredited BSN program
  • Has not taken the NCLEX-RN licensing examination
  • A GPA of 3.3 or higher is preferred
  • BLS Certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association

Salary Range: 22.00 - 22.00 USD

We offer competitive base rates that are determined by many factors, including job-related work experience, internal equity, and industry-specific market data. In addition to base salary, some positions may be eligible for clinical certification pay and shift differentials.

The salary range listed for exempt positions reflects full-time compensation and will be prorated based on employment status.
