Please Note: This is a Utah-based hybrid position which will require some regular in-office days each week. Additionally, employment with BambooHR is contingent on passing both a background and credit check. 

Essential Job Duties

The Business Intelligence Data Analyst Intern supports BambooHR’s mission by helping turn data into meaningful insights that inform decisions across the organization. In this role, you’ll work hands-on with real business data, partnering closely with BI Engineers, Analysts, and business stakeholders. You’ll gain exposure to modern analytics practices, data modeling concepts, and stakeholder-driven reporting while building a strong foundation for a career in analytics. This internship is designed to be a learning-focused experience with real impact, mentorship, and growth.

You will:

• Support the development and maintenance of analytics-ready datasets, reports, and dashboards across one or more business domains.
• Assist in building and enhancing data visualizations and reports using BI tools to make insights accessible to business partners.
• Analyze datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities that support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Partner with BI team members and business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate questions into analytical outputs.
• Help document business requirements, assumptions, and metric definitions to support consistent and trusted reporting.
• Contribute to data quality and validation efforts to ensure accuracy and reliability of BI assets.
• Learn and apply best practices in SQL, data modeling, and analytics workflows.
• Explore and experiment with AI-enabled features in analytics and BI tools under guidance from the team.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

• Completion of junior year of undergraduate study in Business Analytics, Data or Decision Science, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, and/or current enrollment in a graduate program.
• Strong interest in Business Intelligence, analytics, and data-driven decision-making.
• Foundational knowledge of SQL, including the ability to write basic queries to explore and analyze data.
• Familiarity with data visualization or BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Sigma, Omni) through coursework, projects, or internships.
• Basic understanding of data analysis concepts, metrics, and reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to clearly communicate findings and ask thoughtful questions.
• Willingness to learn, receive feedback, and collaborate in a team environment.
• Proactive mindset with curiosity and enthusiasm for working with data.
