Job Description

OVERVIEW

Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Civil or Environmental Engineering student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2026 at our Tampa, FL office. Imagine working on rewarding client projects and being exposed to unparalleled training and development opportunities! Must have graduation date after August 2026 to be eligible.

The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2026. 

We will be accepting resumes for this opportunity through February 2026. Resumes will be reviewed as they are received followed by interviews. Timeframe subject to change.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

The summer internship will provide an undergraduate or graduate student an opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of transportation engineering. The intern will be exposed to a variety of tasks in traffic engineering, transportation planning, Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Studies, roadway and site design, and transportation environmental services for various local, state, and private clients.

The intern will gain experience in collaborating with other disciplines, interfacing with clients and contractors, following schedules and budget commitments, working independently, communicating, and problem solving.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have graduation date after August 2026 to be eligible.
  • Must be pursuing an engineering degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.
  • Must meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Synchro/SimTraffic and HCS
  • ArcGIS
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D and Bentely Open Roads Designer 
  • Local candidates preferred
