Who We're Looking For

We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Multi-Disciplinary Engineering Intern to join our Etch Equipment Department. This robust internship offers unparalleled exposure to the integration of electrical, mechanical, and software (coding) engineering disciplines as applied to industrial applications within a semiconductor manufacturing environment.  

Under the guidance of an experienced mentor, you will gain practical experience in:  

  • Engineering Design Process: Participating in the full engineering design lifecycle, from concept to implementation.
  • Data-Driven Analysis: Engaging in data collection and analysis to inform design decisions and evaluate equipment functionality.
  • Equipment Functional Analysis: Conducting in-depth analysis of existing equipment to identify areas for improvement.
  • Hardware Design, Installation & Fabrication: Contributing to the design, installation, and fabrication of hardware components.

Key projects for this internship will include:  

  • Pneumatic Systems Control Design: Developing and optimizing control systems for pneumatic applications.
  • Vibrational External Sensor Modification & Interlock Design: Enhancing existing systems through sensor integration and interlock design, including subsequent data collection to validate design processes.

We are looking for applicants who thrive in a hands-on environment and possess a strong passion for improving existing mechanical and electrical systems. Prior experience or demonstrated interest in programming, sensor applications, and mechanical systems is highly preferred. This role provides a unique opportunity to apply diverse engineering skills to critical semiconductor equipment.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in and have successfully completed the sophomore year (or equivalent) of an accredited bachelor’s degree program in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a long-term basis without the need for current or future employer-sponsored immigration status. This includes, but is not limited to, H-1B, OPT, O-1, TN Visas, or any other employment-based immigration sponsorship.
  • Ability to commit to full-time employment (40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) on-site at our Camas, WA location for the entire duration of the internship program. 
    • For Semester System Students: May 18th, 2026 – July 24, 2026
    • For Quarter System Students: June 22nd, 2026 – August 28, 2026
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills, effective communication abilities, and a collaborative team-oriented spirit.
  • Proactive and self-motivated learner with a strong desire for active engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities in a dynamic business environment.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), computer proficiency, presentation skills, and active listening abilities are essential for contributing effectively to team projects and TSMC Washington’s culture.

Physical Requirements (for certain roles):

  • Some roles within the internship program may require the ability to:
    • Lift and move materials in accordance with applicable regulations and safety guidelines, including NIOSH lifting recommendations.
    • Work in a cleanroom environment, which includes adhering to gowning protocols (wearing coveralls, hoods, boots, safety glasses, and gloves) and spending significant time on the factory floor operating and monitoring tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing processes and design principles.
  • Prior experience or coursework demonstrating proactive collaboration and teamwork in project-based settings.
  • Experience in presenting and discussing work and ideas within a team environment.

Pay Transparency & Other Compensation

At TSMC, your base pay is just one component of your comprehensive compensation package. For new hires in this position, the starting wage typically ranges between $23.00  and $27.00  per hour.
