Job Description

We are searching for a Point of Care Testing Coordinator -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will coordinate and ensure the delivery of quality, timely, and cost-efficient point of care testing throughout the hospital by standardizing test procedures, facilitating staff training, validating staff competency, monitoring quality control programs, and maintaining compliance with regulatory agency requirements. This role will also coordinate and ensure preparation of the department and point of care testing for inspections by regulatory agencies and coordinates the proficiency testing program.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, laboratory, chemical, physical or biological science required
  • One of the following certifications is required: MT-STATE, MT-AAB, MT-AMT, CLSP, IMLS, BB-ASCP, C-ASCP, H-ASCP, MLS-ASCP, MT-ASCP, MB-ASCP, MP-ASCP or MT-NCA
  • 1 year laboratory experience required 

Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinates validation & implementation of POCT test processes
  • Collaborates with IDS department leadership involved in POCT and Pathology administrative staff to write and implement appropriate policies for POCT
  • Assists with the development and implementation of quality control procedures for the POCT sites
  • Ensures that POCT sites are in compliance with regulatory agencies by communicating requirements and periodically reviewing and monitoring performance and other parameters against standards
  • Assists with the development and implementation of orientation and training programs for staff performing POCT
  • Conducts on-sites visits of POCT sites to assess existing test methodologies, instruments, and reagents for quality, efficacy, and cost effectiveness and ensure ongoing compliance with QC policy and procedures
  • Meets with the IDS staff including nursing, pathology, QOM etc. as needed and upon request to ensure regulatory compliance and provide feedback to administrative staff to ensure corrective action
