Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited 4-year institution pursuing a degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. Previous internship experience in heavy civil construction is preferred, and strong communication skills are needed to collaborate with project managers and superintendents.

OHLA USA , Inc. is seeking a safety engineeringintens for 2026 at various projects throughout southern California in Irvine, Anaheim, Montebello and Santa Clarita.

The following items are possible activities for an intern under Project Manager supervision, however, based on the size of the project, he/she/they would only be assigned certain items from the list and the other items would be given to other engineers on the same project:
• Incident/Accident Reporting when an incident occurs on the job site
• Incident Review meetings after an Incident Occurs
• Job Hazard Analysis Audits
• Safety Orientation, Confined Space Training, Trench and Excavation Training, and Fall Protection Training for New Hire Craft workers.
• Safety Walks with Project Manager, Engineer, Superintendent to talk about safety issues on the job site and getting them fixed.
• Scanning Safety Documents
• Conducting Toolbox Talks
• Reporting any stolen equipment or machinery to the police department or CHP
• Inspecting the jobsite
• Conducting Drug Test for new employees
• Creating and enforcing policies with OSHA regulations and ISO 45001 Standards
• Ensuring crafts workers are wearing the proper PPE needed
• Communicating with project managers and superintendents of issues occurring on the project

Compensation: The base hourly rate being offered for this position is USD $20.00 per hour to USD $25.00 per hour. Please note that the salary range listed is specific to the role listed in California. Hourly rates may vary for different individuals in the same role based on various factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, and performance.
