The Opportunity

We are seeking a Hostler to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely moving trailers within the yard to designated dock doors, staging areas, or storage locations. This position is integral to ensuring efficient yard operations, improving trailer flow, and supporting overall logistics efficiency. You will work closely with the terminal, dispatch, and driver teams to ensure seamless transportation operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Trailer Movement: Safely move trailers between assigned locations within the yard. · Equipment Inspection: Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trailers and yard trucks. · Safety Compliance: Ensure trailers are properly secured and follow all safety protocols. · Communication: Coordinate with dispatch, leadership, and drivers to optimize workflow. · Dock Work: Assist with loading/unloading or moving freight when needed.

Skills & Attributes

· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols. · Excellent communication and teamwork skills. · Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. · Forklift experience is a plus.  

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

· Education: High school diploma or GED preferred. · Experience: Previous experience as a Hostler, Yard Jockey, or similar transportation role preferred.

Compensation

· Compensation: $20.00 - $24.00 an hour, based on experience and location.· Classification: Non-Exempt, subject to all applicable state and federal laws. 

Work Environment

This is a full-time, at-will position.  This is an onsite position, located at the posted Terminal. Physical Requirements:· ? Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. · ? Frequent walking, standing, and climbing in and out of trucks. · ? Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.· Ability to lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds.· Ability to navigate each department and the company’s facilities as needed.
