Starting hourly rate range : $24.50 - 27.75 Per hour

Please note that hourly rates for this position are based on type of degree and expected date of graduation.

Intern, Mechanical (Car Reliability)

This is a full-time summer internship lasting from May 11, 2026, until August 28, 2026.

Job Summary 

The Intern, Car Mechanical is responsible for collaborating with Car Reliability including Analysts, fleet leaders, the Car Repair Billing, and Senior Managers to support and drive projects. Additionally, the incumbent works with Finance, and Planning to contribute to CN’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The position participates in leading projects and overseeing project portfolio.

Major Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis on car reliability and car repair billing initiatives
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of railcar automated alerts
  • Work in tableau to create data visualization
  • Update Mechanical inventory using car repair billing devices
  • Create workscopes collaborating with fleet leaders

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Knowledge of business intelligence tools Systems, Applications and Products (SAP) Query Designer or equivalent
  • Knowledge of reporting software such as Tableau and SmartSheet
  • Knowledge of coding and application development
  • Autonomous and project ownership
  • Communicates with impact

Education 

  • Recent Graduate or working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business, Finance, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
