Summary/Objective:

Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster, LTD is seeking a Full-Time Associate Athletic Trainer for Palmyra Area High School. The athletic trainer has the potential to work with athletes of all skill levels and ages. The Athletic Trainer position works with athletes of all ages to prevent, diagnose, and treat injuries of muscles or bones. They work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals when advanced medical care such as surgery or MRIs are required.  

Essential Functions:

  • Promotes the mission and values of the organization.

  • Provide services directed toward achieving increased functional independence, decreasing functional limitations, and prevention of injuries to the individual patient/athlete.

  • Upon the advance advice and consent of a physician, carry out the practice of prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, disposition, treatment, and/or rehabilitation of injuries. 

  • Perform evaluations of injuries, follow standing orders for treatment, management of the injury or refer the athlete to a physician.

  • Provide education in the prevention of injuries, conditioning, and rehabilitation of injuries.

  • Document evaluative findings, treatments that were administered, the patient assessment and the patient’s treatment plan.

  • Clean and maintain treatment area and workspace.

  • Provide emergency care within the Athletic Training scope of practice.

  • Ability to work in a wide variety of settings.

  • Effectively communicate with the patient/athlete, family, physician, and/or coach regarding the patient/athlete`s injury and his/her ability to return to work/practice/competition.

  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Required Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree from a CAATE accredited university athletic training program.

  • Licensure by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine.

  • Must hold a current BLS for healthcare providers.

  • Must have all state required clearances.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience is preferred.

  • Strong communication skills for accurate, concise, and organized verbal and written interactions with patients and co-workers.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member.
