📝 Position Summary

Responsible for providing proper guidance to students to ensure positive group living relations and achievement in the Job Corps program.

• Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive living space

• Lead by example—setting the tone for responsibility and growth

• Coach students through life skills, conflict resolution, and personal development

• Keep dorm operations running smoothly with checks, reports, and teamwork

• Be the trusted adult students turn to for support and encouragement

✅ Responsibilities

• 🏠 Provide guidance for students to achieve a positive attitude and proper behavior in dormitory living and accomplish goals

• 📝 Determine, recommend, and arrange student visits to counselor

• 🎯 Assist in unit activities, including unit government

• 👀 Patrol and monitor dormitories and center, ensuring safety and proper behavior; resolve problems

• 🗂 Prepare daily operations report, pass list, and other administrative correspondence

• 🧹 Direct students and assist in cleanup and maintenance of dormitory

• 🛒 Recommend or requisition supplies for dorm living and student safety

• 📂 Maintain dormitory and individual student files, ensuring they are complete and updated

• 💻 Enter student case notes in the center information system

• 👥 Participate in career development services by ensuring a safe living environment and positive peer leadership

• 🧠 Provide guidance, counseling, group sessions, and independent living skills

• ⏰ Work overtime when directed; maintain regular and predictable attendance

• 🌟 Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff, and center customers

• 🛡 Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy

• 🎓 Promote career success standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students, and monitoring behavior through interventions

• ➕ Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

🎓 Qualifications & Experience

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Advanced degrees preferred.

• Experience: A minimum of one-year Job Corps or related program experience required.

• Licensing: A valid in-State Driver’s License preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching

• Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or assess the lift load to ask for necessary assistance
