JOB SUMMARY:
Oncology Nurses are registered nurses who specialize in the treatment and care of patients with cancer through all aspects of their journey. In addition to the usual nursing roles of giving medicine, observing patients and help with diagnostic tests, oncology nurses may supervise chemotherapy or radiation treatments. They may teach patients and their families about the disease and its treatment. Because of their specialized knowledge of the care of cancer patients, oncology nurses often serve as resources to other staff members. Nursing work can be physically taxing, and you risk injury from lifting patients and moving equipment.

Education/Certification: Graduate of an accredited RN program. Current RN licensure in the state of Idaho. Current BLS and ACLS certification and renewal as required. Successful completion of PALS course within 7 months of hire date and renewal as required. Complete the basic dysrhythmia class with a grade of 84% or higher within 6 months of hire date, if no prior telemetry experience.
Experience: Nursing experience in med-surg, ICU or ER is desired. Chemotherapy administration experience is a bonus. Chemotherapy / Biotherapy Course certification is required within 3 months of hire.
Equipment/Technology: Basic computer knowledge.
Language/Communication: Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak English.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers. Able to calculate correct doses by applying necessary formulas as needed.
Mental Capabilities: Ability to problem solve and handle stressful situations. Time management skills and the ability to prioritize patient care is a must.
Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others.
Performance: Demonstrates ability to safely provide expected patient care—demonstrates ability to safely perform lab draws and provide information regarding patient care to other team members.
