Join Our Team as a Quality Engineer Intern!  

Are you passionate about quality engineering? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our Quality Assurance function. As a Quality Engineer Intern, you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. S&C Electric Company, an ESOP-owned Chicago-based enterprise is aggressively expanding its worldwide sales, sourcing, and operations and seeks students who seek experience in Quality Engineering and problem-solving. This individual will work with Product Engineering, Production Leadership, Quality Managers and Supplier Quality to improve overall quality levels. This position reports to the Sr Manager – Quality Assurance 

Key Responsibilities:   

• Providing support to the creation and execution of the quality standards for S&C’s products and help ensure that established processes are being followed by the team members.  

• Identifying and implementing built-in quality processes. 

• Utilizing problem-solving skills to identify root causes of quality problems. 

• Providing quality support for production, by working closely with the Production, Product Engineering, and Supplier Quality teams on quality related issues and improvements. 

• Utilizing quality feedback and metrics to identify design and process improvements.  

• Ensuring that all inspection processes are documented and up to date. 

• Providing support to the QA Management team on formulating strategies to increase inspection productivity within processes.  

What you’ll Need To Succeed:   

• Must be currently enrolled in a full-time engineering degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship 

• Comfortable commuting to and working onsite at S&C Electric HQ in Rogers Park, Chicago IL. 

• Ability to work Full-Time in Summer 2025 for a minimum of 10 weeks.  

• Demonstrated skills in effective problem-solving and communication across all levels 

• Basic understanding of supplier quality, production, and process controls.  

• Basic understanding of various manufacturing technologies and methods.  

• Familiarity with quality management system tools, APQP, and continuous improvement tools from Lean and Six Sigma Management Systems is a plus.  

• Strong collaboration, influencing, negotiation & conflict resolution skills.  

• Comfortable using mechanical, electrical, and electronic inspection tools & equipment. 

• Excellent skills in data analysis and data management using Excel, Access, or other PC platform software. 

• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to team members at all levels of the organization  

Preferred: 

•  Prior project or internship experience in quality or process engineering is highly desirable

Standing: Frequent time spent on shop floor observing assembly processes.

Handling: Occasional handling of parts and tools.  

Environment: Consists of time spent both in an office environment and on the production floor
