Summary

You will serve as an integral part of the Mechanical Engineering team at FIRST RF, tackling real projects, not just busy work. Working alongside other engineers, you will be assigned a variety of tasks that include component design, drawing creation, as well as prototyping. This will encompass the utilization of 3D printers, communication with machine shops, as well as troubleshooting various issues that may arise. You will work as a key member within projects to accomplish tangible goals that will expand your professional experience, and your technical skill set in an aerospace environment. You will learn new skills every day as these positions is designed for self-starting individuals that enjoy challenges and working in teams.

Qualifications


Required Education and Experience

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must reside in Colorado throughout the duration of the internship
  • Working on a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace
  • Must have ability to be organized and manage priorities while juggling multiple tasks
  • A desire to learn, ask questions, and solve new and challenging problems
  • Work in a lab environment
  • Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Some proficiency with SolidWorks
  • Basic understanding of GD&T
  • Hands-on design or fabrication experience
  • Use of measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers
  • Use of power tools such as hand drill and Dremel tool

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a summer college intern position where the individual is expected to work 40 hours per week. Typical office hours include Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, however these hours can be flexible. Hybrid or virtual work arrangements are not allowed for this position.

No travel is expected for this position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to life lab equipment, open cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
