Job Description
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks professional, innovative, and detail-oriented individuals for Software Engineering Internships. We are looking for someone who will be able to work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer in our Spokane Valley, WA office. If you are a current student looking for an opportunity to develop your software engineering skills, learn from industry leading engineers, and enhance your academic learning, then this may be the position for you!
A typical day as a Software Engineering Intern might include the following:
Providing support to SEL engineers and customers.
Supporting SEL’s software development processes.
Verifying software meets requirements, documenting and communication test results.
Performing testing on new and existing technologies.
Embracing the mindset: Understand. Create. Simplify.
Applying SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
Performing other duties as assigned.
This job might be for you if:
You are a current student pursuing a degree in computer science or equivalent degree with at least one year of technical coursework completed
You have the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
You have programming experience Python and OO programming languages and experience using a variety of scripting languages
You have the ability to execute and document defined testing procedures
You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
You have the ability and passion to work cooperatively in a team environment
You have practical knowledge of developing Microsoft Windows applications
You have knowledge of SQL and database concepts
You have experience using revision control and source code management systems such as Git, Mercurial, SVN, and Rational ClearCase
Location Information: Spokane Valley, WA
All SEL internships are 100% onsite. This position is based in our Spokane Valley, WA office where you are minutes from a vast array of outdoor activities to enjoy. Pay Range Data ($19.50 - $29.50 per hour) - Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk to your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
School matters. SEL managers work with their interns to arrange flexible schedules that accommodate classes and studying while working part-time during the school year.
