Job Description

Responsible for the supervision, training and management of the food service operation. Meet Aramark's strict Quality Assurance and Labor Standards. Ensure that appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served at the Schools. Meet time constraints set by the school menu requirements established by Aramark, the Child Nutrition office, and meet health codes regulated by the city and state agencies. All positions are working supervisor position where you will work along with your staff.

Job Responsibilities

  • Produce and maintain work schedules and may prepare production records.
  • Direct daily activities in the kitchen and cafeteria.
  • Maintains food production that ensures the safety and quality of food according to policies, procedures, and department requirements.
  • Ensure that food items are stored in a safe, organized, and hazard-free environment.
  • Maintain all serving schedules; ensure that all food items are served according to the menu specifications in a safe and appropriate manner according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a sanitary department following health and safety codes and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate reports of daily, weekly, and activity reports.
  • Maintain accurate inventory on a weekly basis according to departmental policies and procedures
  • Prepare orders as needed per vendor to ensure accurate production for location
  • Must be knowledgeable in operating an efficient cost-effective program
  • Supervise and evaluate employees at the campus, promoting employee growth, efficiency, morale and teamwork.
  • Maintain a safe and hazard-free working environment.
  • Train/Mentor food service workers.
  • Full knowledge of POS system in your site
  • Train employees to properly use the POS system, when required
  • Maintain logs on all maintenance required on equipment within the school’s food service department.
  • Perform preventative maintenance checklist.
  • Justify replacement of existing equipment to meet needs of facility  
  • Proficiency in multi-tasking
  • Receive phone calls from employees calling in that they will not be at work and fill that position with another employee for the day.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Food Service Director whenever his/her skill and/or experience would be necessary to initiate, coordinate, or complete any given program.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed. Safe Briefs / Safe Huddles and Safe Checks are being conducted.
  • Maintain communication with staff.
  • Maintain that employees are following scheduled hours and break times.
  • May perform cashier’s duties as required.
  • Promote good public relations.
  • Attend in-service meeting as scheduled by the General Manager/Lead.
  • Adhere to the uniform policy as set by General Manager.
  • Must check and respond to all e-mails
  • Other duties as assigned
  • May need to travel to other schools within our District when needed  o Must contact Supervisor prior to leaving school

Qualifications

  • Must read, write, and understand verbal instructions.
  • Must complete a sanitation course either before or during first year as a lead
  • Must have computer knowledge with Microsoft Office

Minimum Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma/GED

Pass a criminal background check as set by the Board of Education and the Illinois Fingerprint Code.

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
