As a Mental Health Technician (MHT), you'll be an integral part of our treatment team, providing continuous care, supervision, and positive role modeling to patients across various age groups from preschool to geriatrics. Working under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, you'll contribute to creating a therapeutic environment that fosters patient support and well-being.

  • Accurately record vital signs
  • Exercise judgment in patient interactions and report changes to the RN
  • Follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team and provide information for development and revision
  • Employ crisis-intervention techniques, conduct MHT-led groups, and use facility-approved CPI techniques
  • Assist patients through discharge, guide in adjusting to life changes, and help with personal hygiene
  • Comply with policies for a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment, practicing universal precautions and responding to patient care priorities.  

Your Experience Matters What we’re looking for:

  • Education: High School Degree or equivalent preferred; or Certified Nursing Assistant preferred; Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or appropriate therapeutic discipline.
  • Experience: One year of related experience, with a knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
  • Additional Skill Requirements: May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

Compensation:

South Sound Behavioral Hospital

Smokey Point Behavioral Hospital, located in Marysville, WA is a 145-bed, standalone psychiatric facility, providing short-term crisis stabilization for adults and teens (13 years of age and older) for Inpatient. SPBH also offers Intensive Outpatient Programs, in person and virtual. Treatment services include assessment and evaluation, individualized treatment planning, crisis intervention, consultation and discharge planning. Smokey Point Behavioral Hospital has a clear goal; to help people live healthier lives and restore balance. We treat patients who experience thoughts of suicide, grief, depression, anxiety, psychosis, and mood disorders, and help them maneuver through their crisis. It is our goal to help restore a positive emotional state and health by teaching coping skills, communication and self-awareness.
